RedBlack and toolbox team up after creating CyBake/dispotool software interface

York-based RedBlack Software has formed a technology alliance with German firm toolbox Software.

Both companies are market-leaders in the bakery industry. RedBlack is the creator of the CyBake bakery management software solution used by wholesale and retail bakeries across the UK and Ireland. Toolbox, which is headquartered in Eschweiler, Aachen, provides the dispotool automated order-picking, distribution and warehouse control system to bakeries around the world.

The two companies formed their relationship after creating an interface between their solutions for major Scottish baker Bayne’s, which is headquartered in Lochore, Fife, and operates 50 shops.

The new interface means that when orders are entered into CyBake, they are passed on automatically to dispotool. Distpotool then calculates where products will come from, where they need to be delivered and whether to prioritise certain customers in the event of limited stock.

Distpotool fulfills customer orders and then CyBake automatically issues an invoice from this data. Little oversight is needed at head-office while data re-entry and human error are eliminated. Costs are reduced, the quality of order fulfillment is improved and space in the warehouse/dispatch area is used more efficiently.

Having completed a successful trial at Bayne’s, RedBlack and toolbox are now offering the CyBake/dispotool interface to all British and Irish bakers that use both systems.

Toolbox’s International Sales Manager, Niklaas Wolters, says that judging from its first few British customers, his company can see big demand for a bakery-specific dispatch solution in the UK.

Wolters says: “After developing the interface at our first joint customer, Bayne’s, and the excellent collaboration between CyBake and toolbox, this was a logical step for us. As the world market-leader in picking systems and with CyBake as the UK market-leader in bakery ERP, it makes sense to solidify our partnership and to work together in the future.”

As part of their new partnership, CyBake specialists including RedBlack Software director Martin Coyle joined the toolbox team on their stand at the recent IBA in Munich. In addition, CyBake and toolbox will exhibit together at the Craft Bakers & Butchers Extravaganza on October 11 at the Yorkshire Show Ground, Harrogate.

RedBlack Software rebrands FIR solution as Infood to deliver failsafe compliance across all UK food sectors

MAY 8, 2015, YORK, ENGLAND. RedBlack Software has rebranded its FIR-compliance solution as Infood™.

The York-based firm has also created a new sales channel to distribute Infood to food operators throughout the UK.

RedBlack Software originally launched the food information compliance system as CyBake Fi in September, 2014, as part of its popular CyBake range of bakery management solutions.

In response to requests from CyBake users, RedBlack had spent over 12 months of development and consultation with food industry organisations and experts in order to create the solution before the December, 2014, FIR deadline. Over 30 bakeries now use it.

As other types of food operators were keen to adopt the system and RedBlack had made enhancements that took it beyond its original scope, a new identity – Infood – was born. Now, restaurants, delis, take-aways, food service providers and wholesalers can all take advantage of Infood to achieve failsafe FIR compliance.

Infood provides customers with accurate, compliant allergen and nutritional information on labels, EpoS tills, till receipts, websites and product specification documents. The application integrates with food operators’ production and invoicing systems to remove countless days of data entry.

With Infood, the job of a technical or QA manager is made much easier. A relatively simple change to a recipe may affect very many individual product lines. Using spreadsheets or traditional nutritional calculation systems to reflect such a change is a job that can days. With Infood, all calculations, QUIDS, allergy info and other data needed to meet both FIR and wholesale customer specifications is automatically generated in minutes.

Infood software is cloud-based, so no specialised hardware or installation is necessary. It is easy to use and includes time-saving ingredient libraries for rapid recipe calculation. Automatic allergen alerts are built into recipe creation. Staff can connect to Infood via a browser on any web-enabled device – PC, EPoS till, mobile, tablet – at any time.

Infood is available in four packages – Infood Allergen Tracker, Infood Retail, Infood Wholesale and Infood Premium – so users only pay for what they need. All packages are available as a 30 day free trial.

 JANUARY 21, 2015, YORK, ENGLAND — RedBlack Software managing director Jane Tyler has joined the executive committee of the British Society of Baking (BSB).

RedBlack Software is the creator of the CyBake range of software solutions for retail and wholesale bakeries. Jane Tyler is the first person from the I.T. industry to be invited to the association’s top ranks.

Founded in 1955, the BSB has always been known as the most technical bakery body in the UK. It started off as the British chapter of the American Society of Bakery Engineers (nowadays the American Society of Baking). Members come from all areas of the baking industry and its associated suppliers including millers, research associations and education establishments.

Jane Tyler was asked to join after presenting a seminar at the BSB’s Autumn Conference in Warwick in October, 2014. During this session, she debunked a few myths about computer technology, explained how it can widen margins and looked at the implications of the new FIR rules.

I myself have been designing solutions for bakers for twenty years and as I.T. plays such an integral role in the industry, I hope I can make a strong contribution.”

It’s a big year for the Bicester, Oxfordshire-headquartered BSB as it gears up for its diamond anniversary. As well as celebrating its 60th birthday at its main two-day conference in October (at which, it is hinted, there may be some very special guests), it will hold its 25th annual golf day, a key social event in the industry, on June 9.

RedBlack Software launches Cybake Fi to completely remove FIR-compliance headaches

SEPTEMBER 23, 2014, YORK/LONDON, UK – RedBlack Software today launches Cybake Fi, a new software solution for bakers and other food manufacturers that ensures their compliance with the new Food Information Regulations (FIR).

The new FIR rules (also known under their EU acronym, FIC) start to come into force in December, 2014. To deal with them, Cybake Fi holds ingredient specification data, links it to finished product recipes and transmits the correct FIR-compliant food information to its users’ labels, ePOS tills and websites.

RedBlack is unveiling Cybake Fi (the Fi stands for food information) today at lunch!, the expo for the food-to-go sector at the Business Design Centre, London, which runs from September 23-24.

The result, Cybake Fi, is the first of its kind and completely removes the headache of FIR compliance.”

Cybake Fi is a cloud-based service delivered via the internet, so it requires no installation. Users can choose between Standard, Retail, Wholesale or Premium versions depending on their operation. Management and staff then access their firm’s food information from any internet-connected device, be it a PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone.

Real-time changes are available across all elements of the system and the instant a recipe is altered, users can be confident that the food information that is being provided to their customers is accurate and up-to-date.

Product recipes, allergen lists, nutritional analysis and ingredient declarations are quick and simple to create and readily available to anyone who needs them. A single point of data input means that there’s minimal chance of human error.

All food information can be referred to and checked by production, kitchen and head-office departments with an extremely easy-to-use, easy-to-understand user interface.

Industry-firsts include a unique allergens library provided by the University of Manchester and Checked/Allergen/Nutritional (CAN) traffic-light-style alerts to ensure the compliance of all finished products.

RedBlack Software and Matchbox Mobile launch CyBake Loyalty smartphone-based customer loyalty solution for retail bakers

MARCH 24, 2014, FOODEX, NEC, UK – RedBlack Software has teamed up with Matchbox Mobile to create CyBake Loyalty, a state-of-the-art customer loyalty solution for retail bakers that runs on customers’ smartphones and is launched today at Foodex 2014.

CyBake Loyalty represents the ultimate in regular customer buy-in. After a three-month trial at a chain of coffee shops, 70% of customers were using the mobile app included with the new product.

CyBake Loyalty does away with the need for card-based loyalty schemes. Instead of physical loyalty cards, which are easily damaged, discarded or forgotten, customers carry and display a virtual card with an app they can download from Google Play, iTunes or Windows Phone Store. Each bakery that installs CyBake Loyalty gets its own app, customised to its own brand.
