RedBlack Software gives bakers precision recipe control and traceability with innovative new products from America’s SG Systems

APRIL 18, 2016, FOODEX, NEC, UK – RedBlack Software today announces that it has become the exclusive UK reseller of weighing, ingredient control and traceability solutions from North American specialist SG Systems.

Dallas, Texas-headquartered SG Systems is the creator of the SG Systems V5 suite of recipe control, product labelling and warehouse management system solutions. RedBlack Software is well-known in the UK food sector for its market-leading Cybake range of retail and wholesale bakery management solutions.

Jane Tyler, managing director of RedBlack Software, says: “We’ve always worked toward delivering the ultimate end-to-end system for our customers. SG Systems’ V5 solutions give us the last piece of this puzzle – complete control over the shop floor.”

Tyler, who also sits on the management committee of the British Society of Bakers, adds: “While SG Systems’ elegant applications interface perfectly with Cybake, they are best-of-breed in their own right. SG Systems’ software is not locked within expensive weigh-scale hardware. Its apps work on Windows-driven tablets, making them much less expensive than competing offerings and putting precision traceability within the reach of all bakers.”

The only hardware component of the SG Systems range is its SG15 Touch Screen, a NEMA4X (IP66) industrial tablet computer designed for harsh manufacturing environments. The revolutionary SG15 Touch Screen can be plugged into to any modern-day scales to transform them into a SG Systems V5 Formula Control Scale System.

The SG Systems V5 Formula Control Scale System ensures that ingredients are measured and traced accurately and consistently, without costly giveaway or out-of-specification batches.

SG Systems’ Mobile Warehouse Management System (Mobile WMS) works on any Windows tablet; it does not require proprietary hardware. The application manages inventory shipping, receiving and despatch as well as generating shipping labels and delivery notes.

Stuart Hunt, president of SG Systems says: “The management team at SG Systems has known the team at RedBlack for many years. During our search for a distributor for our V5 formula control and lot traceability solutions, they were the obvious choice.

“RedBlack has considerable experience in the craft bakery market in the UK, which is the prime area of focus for our product. We are delighted to begin this relationship and I wish them the very best of luck.”

SG Systems solutions are available from RedBlack Software’s Cybake division from today. They are sold separately from Cybake and can interface with practically any other ERP software.

RedBlack Software’s Cybake team is at Foodex on stand Q299. At this year’s show, RedBlack Software is also announcing the launch of Cybake Instore. See our separate press release: “RedBlack Software gives bakers and food-to-go operators the power of prediction with Cybake Instore” for the full story.

RedBlack Software gives bakers and food-to-go operators the power of prediction with Cybake Instore

April 18, 2016, FOODEX, NEC, UK – RedBlack Software launches Cybake Instore, an automated sales-based ordering system for retail bakers and food-to-go operators that cuts waste and increases shop takings, at Foodex today.

York-based RedBlack is the creator of the Cybake range of bakery and food-to-go management solutions. Cybake Instore is the result of close collaboration between Cybake’s design team and RedBlack’s biggest customers in the British bakery and food-to-go sectors.

Major clothing and food retailer M&S uses its own customised version of the application in a selection of its in-store bakeries.

Instore solves the age-old dilemma faced by all bakers and food-to-go operators: make or stock too much and you throw money in the bin at the end of the day; make or stock too little and you run out of goods early on and miss out on sales.

Instore takes historical sales data direct from EPOS tills to calculate shops’ orders in a way that is not practical manually. Waste is cut and sales are increased as orders are far more accurate than those made by shop managers.

Instore corrects staff assumptions about customers’ purchasing decisions. The application takes historical sales and usage data for items – or item-components such as sandwich fillers – to predict future order quantities.

In addition, Instore provides reconciliation of what was delivered with what was actually sold through the tills, highlighting any variances between the two. This, for example, helps to control sandwich filling portion sizes.

Instore is an easy-to-use, cloud-based solution with no need for new hardware or technical expertise.

It works on any web-connected device – PC or tablet. Automated backups and security come as part of the service.

Jane Tyler, managing director of RedBlack Software, says: “At this year’s Foodex, we wanted to confirm our position as the number one authority in improving bakery management control. I believe that the launch of Instore goes a long way to achieving that.

“One of the most important decisions made by retail bakers or FTG operations is how much perishable stock to produce for the days ahead. Instore can ensure that bakers have the right amounts in the right shops at the right times. It balances out their ups and downs.”

Tyler, who is also an executive committee member of the British Society of Baking, concludes: “Cloud-based and with a clean interface, Instore is a perfect example of our expertise within the bakery sector.”

RedBlack Software’s CyBake team are at Foodex on stand Q299. The Cybake Instore website has been launched at http://cybakeinstore.co.uk/ .

Instore is sold separately from Cybake and can interface with practically any other ERP software. Infood succeeds RedBlack’s stand-alone Cybake Touch shop management system.

At this year’s Foodex show, RedBlack Software is also announcing a reseller partnership with American weighing and traceability specialists SG Systems.

Marks & Spencer to trial CyBake ordering software across five in-store bakeries

OCTOBER 14, 2015. YORK, UK. Marks and Spencer (M&S) is trialling CyBake sales-based ordering software in a selection of its in-store bakeries.

The CyBake range of bakery management solutions comes from York-based developer RedBlack Software. RedBlack has served British and Irish bakers for 17 years. Around 90 retail and wholesale bakeries use CyBake to control their processes and manage production.

In line with M&S Plan A commitments, being able to more accurately predict demand will help reduce products going to waste, while ensuring product freshness is maintained by baking in a timely manner.

Jane Tyler (pictured), managing director of RedBlack says: “We are delighted to be working with M&S, one of Britain’s best-loved brands. I am really pleased that we can put our experience with automated sales-based ordering to the test at an enterprise level.”

Lance Bennett, senior IT project manager at Marks and Spencer, says: “For this trial, we wanted to work with a specialist bakery sector provider. The proposal by the CyBake team fitted the bill perfectly. I have been impressed with their agility when it comes to development and their rapid responsiveness to our suggestions.”

RedBlack and toolbox team up after creating CyBake/dispotool software interface

Martin Coyle and Niklaas Wolters web

York-based RedBlack Software has formed a technology alliance with German firm toolbox Software.

Both companies are market-leaders in the bakery industry. RedBlack is the creator of the CyBake bakery management software solution used by wholesale and retail bakeries across the UK and Ireland. Toolbox, which is headquartered in Eschweiler, Aachen, provides the dispotool automated order-picking, distribution and warehouse control system to bakeries around the world.

The two companies formed their relationship after creating an interface between their solutions for major Scottish baker Bayne’s, which is headquartered in Lochore, Fife, and operates 50 shops.

The new interface means that when orders are entered into CyBake, they are passed on automatically to dispotool. Distpotool then calculates where products will come from, where they need to be delivered and whether to prioritise certain customers in the event of limited stock.

Distpotool fulfills customer orders and then CyBake automatically issues an invoice from this data. Little oversight is needed at head-office while data re-entry and human error are eliminated. Costs are reduced, the quality of order fulfillment is improved and space in the warehouse/dispatch area is used more efficiently.

Having completed a successful trial at Bayne’s, RedBlack and toolbox are now offering the CyBake/dispotool interface to all British and Irish bakers that use both systems.

Toolbox’s International Sales Manager, Niklaas Wolters, says that judging from its first few British customers, his company can see big demand for a bakery-specific dispatch solution in the UK.

Wolters says: “After developing the interface at our first joint customer, Bayne’s, and the excellent collaboration between CyBake and toolbox, this was a logical step for us. As the world market-leader in picking systems and with CyBake as the UK market-leader in bakery ERP, it makes sense to solidify our partnership and to work together in the future.”

As part of their new partnership, CyBake specialists including RedBlack Software director Martin Coyle joined the toolbox team on their stand at the recent IBA in Munich. In addition, CyBake and toolbox will exhibit together at the Craft Bakers & Butchers Extravaganza on October 11 at the Yorkshire Show Ground, Harrogate.

RedBlack director Martin Coyle says: “Toolbox has a fantastic system that encapsulates all of the quality and efficiency you might expect from German designers. I am really looking forward to supporting toolbox as they introduce their system to craft bakers in the UK.”

The CyBake/dispotool interface is available now from both RedBlack Software and toolbox Software.

RedBlack Software rebrands FIR solution as Infood to deliver failsafe compliance across all UK food sectors

infoodlarge

MAY 8, 2015, YORK, ENGLAND. RedBlack Software has rebranded its FIR-compliance solution as Infood™.

The York-based firm has also created a new sales channel to distribute Infood to food operators throughout the UK.

RedBlack Software originally launched the food information compliance system as CyBake Fi in September, 2014, as part of its popular CyBake range of bakery management solutions.

In response to requests from CyBake users, RedBlack had spent over 12 months of development and consultation with food industry organisations and experts in order to create the solution before the December, 2014, FIR deadline. Over 30 bakeries now use it.

As other types of food operators were keen to adopt the system and RedBlack had made enhancements that took it beyond its original scope, a new identity – Infood – was born. Now, restaurants, delis, take-aways, food service providers and wholesalers can all take advantage of Infood to achieve failsafe FIR compliance.

Infood provides customers with accurate, compliant allergen and nutritional information on labels, EpoS tills, till receipts, websites and product specification documents. The application integrates with food operators’ production and invoicing systems to remove countless days of data entry.

With Infood, the job of a technical or QA manager is made much easier. A relatively simple change to a recipe may affect very many individual product lines. Using spreadsheets or traditional nutritional calculation systems to reflect such a change is a job that can days. With Infood, all calculations, QUIDS, allergy info and other data needed to meet both FIR and wholesale customer specifications is automatically generated in minutes.

Infood software is cloud-based, so no specialised hardware or installation is necessary. It is easy to use and includes time-saving ingredient libraries for rapid recipe calculation. Automatic allergen alerts are built into recipe creation. Staff can connect to Infood via a browser on any web-enabled device – PC, EPoS till, mobile, tablet – at any time.

Infood is available in four packages – Infood Allergen Tracker, Infood Retail, Infood Wholesale and Infood Premium – so users only pay for what they need. All packages are available as a 30 day free trial.

New Infood distributors include The Food Safety System, Hertfordshire, Scottish Packaging Solutions, Aberdeenshire, Gaining Food Training, Newcastle upon Tyne, and Abbey Labels and Packaging, Belfast.

Jane Tyler, managing director of RedBlack Software, says: “Infood is our fastest selling product right now. Its new name reflects the demand that we are seeing across all food sectors.

“A year and a half ago we were given the opportunity to create a solution to a new challenge from the ground up. With the help of our customers, we believe that we have created the only solution that can totally take the headache out of not just FIR compliance but food product specification in general.”

RedBlack gave food operators a sneak-peak of the new-look Infood with a stand at the Farm Shop and Deli Show at the NEC, Birmingham, three weeks ago.

Martin Coyle, sales director of RedBlack, says: “Response was strong from firms of all kinds. Food companies are very engaged with food safety and compliance issues right now. And if they find that tackling FIR properly gives them better control over their operations, then their interest grows.”

Infood was officially launched as a new brand today, May 8, at the 2015 Scottish Bakers Conference and Awards event at the Crowne Plaza Glasgow Hotel, which runs until tomorrow.

RedBlack has launched a new website for Infood  which includes a comprehensive guide to the new food information regulations ( https://infoodsystems.co.uk/#/faq)
